Infamous Serial Killers Nicknames
Bind Torture Kill (BTK) Killer
Dennis Rader is an American serial killer that bound, tortured, and killed 10 people in Witchita, Kansas between 1974 and 1991. He is currently serving 10 life sentences for his crimes.
Dennis Rader was nicknamed the BTK killer because of the methods he used to kill his victims.
The Milwaukee Cannibal/ The Milwaukee Monster

Happy Face Killer
Keith Hunter Jesperson was known as the Happy Face Killer because he would draw smiley faces on the letters he sent to police and the media. He would strangle his victims. He was convicted of 8 murders, but may have killed up to 160 escorts and transients. He’s serving life in prison.
The Zodiac Killer
The Zodiac Killer killed 37 people in 1968 and 1969 around the San Francisco area using guns and bombs. He earned his nicknames for the cyphers that would be used to lead to his crimes. Two have not been solved. Try for yourself.

Boston Strangler
Albert DeSalvo was an American serial killer who killed 13 women in their homes in Boston during the 1960s. His method of murder was strangulation earning him his most famous nickname, “The Boston Strangler.” He was also called the “Mad Strangler of Boston,” “The Measuring Man,” and “The Green Man.”
Son of Sam
David Berkowitz killed six people between July 1976 and July 1977. He confessed to his crimes claiming that he was told to do it by a demon dog owned by his neighbor Sam. While David Berkowitz made up the story, he received the nickname “Son of Sam.” David Berkowitz was also called the .44 Caliber Killer because of his weapon of choice.
Dating Game Killer
Rodney James Alcala definitely killed eight victims and may have killed up to 130. He earned his nickname for going on the tv show The Dating Game in the middle of his crime spree. You can watch his story on Netflix.
The Killer Clown
John Wayne Gacy earned his nickname the Killer Clown because he would dress up as a character called Pogo the clown. He killed at least 33 victims before he was caught and received the death penalty.
The Many Nicknames of Edward Theodore Gein
The Mad Butcher, The Plainfield Ghoul, The Plainfield Butcher, and The Butcher of Plainfield are all nicknames for Ed Gein. While he only killed two people, his collection of human skin home decor inspired fictional villains in movies like Psycho, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Silence of the Lambs. Commonly Used Nicknames For Serial Killers
People aren’t very creative with nicknames. There are a lot of serial killers using certain words as their nicknames some of the most common include the following nicknames.
Strangler
In addition to the Boston Strangler, you also have the Stocking Strangler, Hillside Stranglers, and 32 other serial killers with the nickname strangler.
One of the funny nicknames on the list was Taco Bell Strangler. I would picture someone killing people and stealing their Taco Bell, but it’s just because he worked at Taco Bell. Oddly, he didn’t follow a pattern to the point the FBI concluded the murders weren’t the work of a serial killer.
Angel
I don’t know why, but people refer to many serial killers as Angels, most commonly these refer to medical serial killers that are considered Angels of Death. There are 16 serial killers with nicknames involving angels.
Death
20 serial killers nicknames involve Death including Doctor Death ( Jack Kevorkian, Harold Shipman, and 3 others).
Vampire
Vampire of (location) is a commonly used name for a serial killer

While most serial killings end in the murderer being arrested and executed, there are plenty of serial killers out in the world. They evade capture, and sometimes even taunt the press and the authorities. They get nicknames for all kinds of reasons. Even if the nicknames are funny the crimes they committed were not.
