Me in front of the Bonnie and Clyde car

We wanted a fun, low cost family outing in Las Vegas that would use my whole family’s skills.

I’m a writer, my wife is a photographer, and my daughter wants to make movies. Since this is a true crime website we decided to go check out the real Bonnie And Clyde car at Buffalo Bill’s Resort Casino.

So we jumped in our car, jammed out to some tunes, and took the hour-long drive to Primm to check out Bonnie & Clyde’s death car.

Here’s what we found!

Who were Bonnie & Clyde?

Bonnie and Clyde were an outlaw duo that led the infamous Barrow gang during the Great Depression.

They committed bank robberies, auto theft, and murders from Louisiana to Illinois before reaching their final demise at the hands of police.

They caught the imagination of the American public because many people fantasized about seeking revenge against banks and other businesses that led to the Great Depression (seriously who doesn’t want to stick it to the man?)

Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow only knew each other for a little over four years before their crime spree ended.

While they were romanticized, you wouldn’t have wanted to meet them in the midst of their crimes because they were vicious.

Bonnie Parker

Bonnie Parker was 19 years old when she met Clyde Barrow. The two immediately fell in love and maintained contact when he went to jail. She even helped him break out before their crime spree began.

Once they got together they lived fast, committed lots of crimes, and died together in a frenzy of bullets.

Clyde Barrow

Clyde Barrow started his life of crime at the age of 17 when he was arrested for not returning a rental car. His crimes ranged from cracking safes, robbing banks and convenience stores, stealing cars, and killing civilians and law enforcement officers.

You can learn more about Bonnie & Clyde in our other blog.

What car did Bonnie and Clyde drive?

Bonnie & Clyde drove many stolen cars during their crime spree across America, but the one that most people are interested in is the 1934 Ford Model 40 B Fordor Deluxe that they died in after police used armor-piercing bullets to gun them down in Louisiana.

Where is the Bonnie and Clyde death car?

Bonnie and Clyde’s bullet ridden car is on display along with Clyde’s Death shirt and other items from the  at Buffalo Bill’s Resort Casino in Primm, Nevada.

The address is 31700 S. Las Vegas Blvd, Primm, NV 89019. The location is approximately 30 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip at the Nevada and California border. You’ll also find the Whiskey Pete casino and Primm Valley Casino Resorts. This small town is mostly rural gas stations, the three casinos, and amusement parks (the amusement parks are no longer running).

There’s also another one in the Bonnie & Clyde Ambush Museum in Gibsland, Louisiana, but that car is from the movie.

Is there still blood in the Bonnie and Clyde death car?

Supposedly there is still blood in the interior of the Bonnie and Clyde death car, but I could not see it with the naked eye. Given the car is over 90 years old at this point any blood would have faded, but the bullet holes are still very noticeable.

How many bullet holes in Bonnie and Clyde's car?

According to the website for the Bonnie and Clyde death car attraction, there are over 100 bullet holes in the Ford V-8.

My Thoughts On The Bonnie And Clyde Car Exhibit

It was fun to go see the Bonnie and Clyde Death Car. Given it’s a free exhibit, I’d definitely advise anyone going to Las Vegas to see it.

The one complaint I have is that the displays aren’t great for getting photos. All the items are protected using a plexiglass material that catches reflections pretty badly.

There’s a great collection of Bonnie and Clyde history in the exhibit, plus there’s some fun things for true crime fans to do there too.

For just 51 cents you can have a copper stamp of the Bonnie and Clyde car made.

Hand Mirror Crafted By Clyde Barrow

The display also has a hand mirror that was made by Clyde Barrow and give to Bonnie Parker so she had something to remember him when he was locked up.

A Woman’s Belt Crafted By Clyde Barrow

Clyde created this belt for his sister. It’s beautiful and makes me think the outlaw duo would have done extraordinarily well in today’s creative times. Maybe they wouldn’t have felt the need to kill people?

Newspaper Clippings

There are a number of newspaper clippings documenting the American history of Bonnie and Clyde, the couple’s car, and other events.

Pictures of Bonnie and Clyde

There were numerous pictures of Bonnie and Clyde together and separately. One thing that always shocks me is how tiny Bonnie Parker is at 4’11” and 90 pounds.

Copies of Legal Documents

There are copies of legal documents like death certificates and other items which are interesting.

When did Peter Simon buy the Bonnie and Clyde Car?

Peter Simon bought the Bonnie and Clyde death car in 1973 for $175,000 (the equivalent of a quarter million today) after it had been travelling to state fairs and amusement parks as a sideshow attraction.

Jesse and Ruth Warren were the actual owners of the 1934 Ford Model 40B DeLuxe Fordor sedan that Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow stole and were driving when police unloaded 167 bullets towards the outlaw couple as they were moving in Louisiana.
