Every day a new true crime fan is born. Whether you’re passionate about criminal justice, serial killers, or the impact of crime on culture there is content that is sure to challenge your mind and make you question what matters.
We'll talk about why people like true crime stories, then discuss our blog. Then, we’re going to present the 10 best true crime blogs to read in 2025 based on their popularity and whether they are still creating new content. After that we’ll provide you some sites that ran out of passion but still rank well.
Why do people like true crime stories?
People like true crime stories because they are morbidly fascinating. Some real crimes push us to understand humanity in a different way, while others are still unsolved and problem solving is fun.
Think about some of the biggest cases of our lifetimes.
If Casey Anthony didn’t kill her baby who did?
How TF did O.J. get away with killing Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman? He even told us how he did it in a book. SMFH!
What does it say about society that Luigi Mangione killed a healthcare insurance CEO and half of us cheered him on? What does it say that some people never get caught but as soon as you kill a CEO there’s a nationwide manhunt? PS the govt is fucked for not paying the McDonald’s employee (never trust the government y’all.
When it comes down to it we all love true crime stories for different reasons. Let’s look at some of the best true crime blogs of 2025.
Featured Blog: The Murder Meme Coin Blog
Notice, I didn’t rank myself as the best blog like a lot of sites do when they write a listicle(list article). I haven’t earned it yet, but there are two things I really love: search engine optimization and psychology.
My mom was a stay at home mom with a double major in philosophy and psychology and she used it to teach us how to live our lives. As the black sheep of the family, it’s natural for me to dig into the darker sides like abnormal psychology.
My goal is to give you the information you really want to know as precisely as possible so you can find out what makes serial killers, outlaws, and other deviants tick. I hope by the end of the year people will agree that Murder Meme Coin’s blog should be at the top of the list, but for now, it’s here because it’s my website.
BTW, if owners of the site reach out, I am happy to help you succeed by trading links or sharing information on our socials.
A&E True Crime Blog
A&E is known for their true crime stories and news. This is the website for AETV. They create tv shows, movies, podcasts, and true crime articles about famous murderers, serial killers, unsolved mysteries, and more. They are the big dog of true crime websites and all the true crime bloggers are trying to top them.
CrimeReads
CrimeReads is a true crime website that writes articles about book reviews. People who are avid readers will love this site. There are multiple contributors so true crime blogs are posted all the time. That makes CrimeReads a breath of fresh air compared to many of the websites that rank near the top of Google that are old and outdated.
Anyways, you’ll probably like blogs like their coverage on trucker serial killers.
True Crime Society
True Crime Society is a podcast, forum, and blog about true crime. This blog takes an approach of discussing the crime with background on the victims, then the investigation, and then the criminals background. It’s quite compassionate but tells the events in a story-like manner. You might also like the True Crime Society Podcast.
I find some of the ads distracting compared to other true crime websites though.
Don’t forget to check out our blog about the best true crime podcasts if you’re more in the mood for a true crime podcast.
Murder Map
Murder Map is created by journalists to track every murder in London. The site also has a blog and is one of the longer running true crime sites. As a writer I love the goal of attempting to inform the public about every murder. Honestly, every city should have a city that publishes all the real crime stories for people to be more aware.
True Crime Diva
True Crime Diva focuses mostly on unsolved cases like true murder stories and disappearances. Their citations and writing style is pleasant but like many free to use websites with no products the ads are distracting.
Serial Killer Shop
Serial Killer Shop is one of the most popular true crime blogs and also sells true crime merchandise. Their designs are fun and it’s a great way to monetize your true crime blogs. You should definitely check out their true crime stories to read online.
This should be in the outdated category because even though it’s one of the best true crime websites they haven’t created more murder cases stories in over a year.
BTW if the owner reads this we’d love to talk to you about carrying your products. These are some of our designs on Cryptolids and NFTreasure.
The True Crime Database
The True Crime Database site requires membership to read most of the database, but it’s free for most of the articles. You can pay monthly, annually, or yearly. For those who love blog crime news, $180 lifetime access is a great deal.
Canada Unsolved
Canada Unsolved is a Canadian website that focuses on unsolved true crime murders and kidnappings in Canada. They strive to help people find the missing men, women, and children.
The Mystery Delver
The Mystery Delver digs into criminal justice cases that don’t have answers. I like the approach on their website because they use good headings to tell the story in bits, but deliver more value in the paragraphs so you can quickly establish whether you want to go into the story in-depth.
Hooked From Page One
Hooked From Page One is a blog that reviews crime and psychological thrillers. They also interview authors and do giveaways. There’s like eight years of book reviews covered so you’ll likely to find a unique read you’ll enjoy.
Outdated True Crime Websites
Some of the true crime online has not been updated in a long time. Sure crimes don’t get updated often after convictions, but when a true crime blog hasn't posted anything since 2022 does it really deserve to be one of the best crime websites?
You might like these sites for older crimes.
The True Crime Blog
The True Crime Blog has some great murder stories and a podcast, but the blog hasn’t been update since 2023. It’s a shame they stopped publishing.
Chilling Crimes
Chilling Crimes has nearly 300 stories about what happened during crimes, their investigations, and their court cases.
Bonnie’s Blog Of Crime
Bonnie’s Blog of Crime is super outdated, but it still ranks #1 on the Feedspot list of true crime blogs. It should be noted that they paid to be there and I am surprised they are still at the top of the list.
The Coldest Case In Laramie
The Coldest Case in Laramie isn’t actually a blog but a podcast by New York Times Pulitzer Prize winning reporter Kim Barker. She looks back at a murder that happened around 40 years ago while she was going to high school in Laramie, Wyoming after a former police officer is accused of the murder.
The Coldest Case in Laramie and other New York Times podcasts are available on Apple Podcasts and Spotify by subscribing to nytimes.com/podcasts.
Texas True Crime Blog
The age of the Texas True Crime Blog domain makes it where the blogs about the Lone Star State Serial Killers like Candy Man, Dr. Death, and The Eyeball Killer rank in the top 10 true crime stories to read online free. It hasn’t published recent articles though.
Closing
I’m sure there are more great blogs that we’ll find as time goes on, but these are some of the best and recent true crime blogs published in January 2025. Come back next year to see if some new ones take their place.
